Best Las Vegas Hotels: Experience Venetian Style

Las Vegas, USA Add comments

The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino opened in 1998. It exemplifies the new, re-invented Las Vegas. This billion-dollar behemoth has all the usual Vegas thrills, and so much more.  It stands where the legendary Sands Hotel used to be - former playground of Frank Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack.

This architectural tribute to all things Venice Italy, houses over 4,000 suites and a 120,000 square foot casino. This is where guests can ride the now famous re-created gondolas along its man-made canals.

To add to its cultural value, The Venetian now has a small but impressively curated museum. The Guggenheim Hermitage features pieces from Impressionist masters. The ‘Art Through The Ages Collection’ showcases masterpieces from Titian to Picasso.

You can also feast your eyes on beautiful art works by Renoir, Gauguin and Matisse. With all three showcases, visitors now have access to works that rival those found in any of the great museums in New York or Europe.

For some thoroughly modern performance art, visitors can watch The Blue Man Group. The quirky, ground-breaking ensemble act has its Blue Man Theater at the Las Vegas Venetian. Blending wit, humor, great music and eye-popping production design, the famous Blue Man Group is now a Las Vegas must-see.

For a more traditional stage musical, The Venetian is where you can watch The Phantom of the Opera. It’s the same New York Broadway classic, but this time you can watch it in Vegas.

Nowadays, the Vegas experience also includes some good shopping and eating. The food court in the Grand Canal Shoppes has some genuine cuisine from Venice. You can also hit the 10,000 square-foot Tao Nightclub to do some of your own dancing. The next day, lunch at The Ventian’s Aquanox is an option. They say the seafood here rivals fare at the famed Emeril.

No need to fly all the way to London to see Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. There’s one inside the hotel that is nearly its equal. Those celebrity figures that are as life-like as the real thing will amuse visitors young and old.

If you need some time to chill, you can relax at the five-acre Pool Deck, and cool off at any of three pools. There are also some good hot tubs. Situated atop the fourth level of the Venetian Tower, you’ll have a great view while you soak away your cares. When you are all dried-off,  take a gondola ride along the canals and experience Venice in Las Vegas.

Many travelers don’t realize that Las Vegas is actually closer to the Grand Canyon than Phoenix. Many exciting tour opportunities, such as helicopter excursions, depart right from Las Vegas. These exciting tours are a family-friendly, distinctive addition to the traditional Las Vegas vacation.
