Las Vegas is no longer just about the casinos, shows and nightlife. It has evolved into a destination with something for everyone - shoppers included. Visit Vegas to shop and get dizzy with the choices. From bargains to high-end retail you can find it here. From tourist trinkets, fine chocolate, exotic cars and designer duds, Las Vegas has it. Let me tell you about some of my favorite shopping spots in Las Vegas.
Forum Shops, Caesars Palace
It’s no surprise that many established hotels in Las Vegas have set up their own in-house shopping meccas. Ceasar’s Palace alone has about 100 shops to choose from. But be prepared to pay top-dollar for the high-end products here. Versace, a design house well-known for its clothes, also sells its home and furniture collection at the Forum Shops. Harry Winston sells his exquisite jewelry here as well. And when I’m finished with all that window shopping, I always stop in at the Cheesecake Factory, to enjoy a decadent dessert after all that walking.
Caesars Palace is located at 3500 S. Las Vegas Boulevard (famously known as The Strip).
Mandalay Place
Compared to the Forum Shops, I find it easier to cover the entire shopping area of Mandalay Place. Even though it’s smaller than the Forum, Mandalay Place is still definitely worth the shopping trip, as you will find a great selection of goods. It has over 40 shops that offer everything from golf accessories to doggie spa products.
The Lush Puppy store is one of my faves here. Lush Puppy is a dog lover’s haven, and you’ll find beds, sweaters, toys and even cookies made especially for man’s best friend.
Of course, your pampered pooch is not the only one to spoil. At Mandalay Place, you’ll enjoy spoiling yourself at 55 Degrees Wine and Design. With help from an array of tablet PCs, select some fine vintages and try them at the wine bar.
The Reading Room is also worth a visit. The bookstore has a unique selection of hard to find books. Discover titles you won’t see in your typical book retailer. From a tome on Ancient Greek oenology, to the latest information on glass blowing techniques in British Columbia, you’ll find it at the Mandalay Reading Room.
When you’re done shopping, slip over to Giorgio Cafe and Ristorante to grab a bite and rest your feet. Or indulge in some happy endings with something sweet at the Chocolate Swan.
Mandalay Bay is located at 3950 S. Las Vegas Boulevard.
Grand Canal Shoppes, The Venetian
For some themed shopping, visit The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian. Luxury is a theme here, but with a wide variety of choices. Movado watch company offers fine timepieces not far from the elegant clothing at Ann Taylor’s.
While walking by the Grand Canal, street performers entertain you, as you hear the gentle sloshing of the gondolas transporting visitors along a half-mile journey. Take a ride yourself, then step off and do some shopping.
Peruse the Venetian glass figurines, such as the exquisite hand-blown dolphins from Ripa de Monti, along the simulated St. Mark’s Square. Go next door to Il Prato and pick out a delightful costume mask for the next royal ball. There’s also some fine stationary available to make out invitations. Don’t forget to get a personalized wax seal so guests will know the elegant invitation came from you.
Speaking of wax, be sure to check out the Madame Tussaud’s while you’re there.
The Venetian can be found right on the Las Vegas Strip, on the site of the old Sands Hotel.
Desert Passage, Aladdin
The Desert Passage at Aladdin is worth the visit just for the sheer size and number of stores. It’s a 475,000 square foot retail space, with over 130 stores. With all it has to offer, you’re bound to find something to you like.
At Aladdin, you can also see the full-sized freighter anchored next to a North African dock. Casablanca never looked so intriguing. Stay for dinner to try authentic New Orleans cuisine at Commander’s Palace. The crawfish is excellent, so is most of the seafood actually.
With so much more shopping centers and hundreds of interesting shops all over Fremont Street, The Strip and elsewhere–you’ll surely find something to take home with you from your Las Vegas trip. Shopping Vegas style is no gamble.
